The Coast Guard, as one of the nation's Armed Forces and its oldest continuous seagoing service, is rich in history and tradition. Therefore, it is appropriate that the distinct military flavor of a formal military ball be used to remind ourselves of the proud nature of our service and of the traditional courtesies and amenities appropriate to the Coast Guard.
